  • 1st February 2011 - Sharla completed her ACE classification with an excellent score of 78% for her movements.
  • Sharla is the highest scoring Australian Thoroughbred in the nation for the 2011 ACE Tour.
  • She placed 4th out of a total of 25 mares (predominantly WB) assessed nationally.

This mare can move!  She has the wow factor with no exaggeration - her natural paces ooze with cadence.  The way which she naturally carries herself in her everyday gaits are what many horses will only produce snippets of when they have been rattled into excitement.  She is a very naturally animated uphill floating mover.

Sharla is a gentle natured very laid back mare, she is a daughter of the USA imported Sire Legend Wind, she comes from a strong family, she is a large built mare, very big boned.

Legend Wind is son of 'The Minstrel' (who is a son of Northern Dancer). The Minstrel was known for his gentle disposition. Legend Wind on his Dam's side was out of a 'Raise a Native' daughter.

The Dam sire of Sharla is Cheraw, who produced the famous Stallion Heroicity, winner of 3 Group 1 races, and sire of 61 winners. Heroicity is also the sire of many successful Steeplechasers including NZ Grand National winner 'No Hero'. Heroicity now resides in the USA where he became the first Southern Hemisphere Thoroughbred to be accepted into the German Hannoverian Verband.

Horses from the Cheraw family are known for their good jumping ability, excellent temperaments, large size and athletic abilities.

Sharla had a successful race career and retired sound. She is a very fast horse but more importantly she is an absolute pleasure to be around, great to handle, good in company, frequently was used as a lead horse in her past racing days and has no vices. What we love about Sharla is her honest gentle nature, sensible brain and her freakish extravagant movements!

We do not take on many thoroughbred mares, Sharla is the only resident that we have opted to keep, she is a high quality horse and one well deserved of her spot amongst our stock.
